Obituary for Maude Louise Haight

Maude Louise Haight, 87, Pine Plains, NY, passed away August 29, 2017 with her family by her side at the Sharon Healthcare Center in Sharon, CT. She and her husband lived their entire lives in the Hudson Valley as part of the farming community. In the 1970s, they settled in the beautiful valley on Tripp Road, Millerton, NY.

She was born October 7, 1929 in the family home in Smithfield, Amenia, NY, the daughter of the late Jerome Bernard Morrison and Emma Marsalla Hardisty. She attended the Square, a one-room schoolhouse in Stanfordville, the one-room schoolhouse in Smithfield and later the Millerton High School.

On April 12, 1950, she married Reginald L. Haight in front of the Justice of the Peace in Millbrook, NY. Mrs. Haight was an excellent cook, seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Her creations were second to none, especially her doilies. She loved her animals and pets. She was strong-minded and talented when it came to crafts and keeping a home.

She is survived by her sister Eileen M. Moore, Pine Plains, NY, and was predeceased by a brother, Bernard J. Morrison, Millerton, NY.

Besides her husband and sister, survivors include several nieces and nephews: Leonard (Patty) Morrison, Millerton, NY; Lana Morrison, Millerton, NY; Stacey L. Moore, Pine Plains, NY; Bryan T. Moore, Milan, NY; Vicki M. Fallon, Millerton, NY; Sherry (Foster) Poupore, Fletcher, NC; Michele Hilpertshauser, CA; Lisa Hilpertshauser, Scottsdale, AZ; Lynn (Barbara) Costine, Pine Plains, NY; Denise Costine FitzPatrick, Millbrook, NY; April (Eugene) Costine LaDue, Albany, NY; Holly Scanlon Beaton, NJ; Karen Scanlon, FL; Mark Scanlon; Frederick Mues; Debbie Mues; John Pearston; and Laurie Pearston. She is also survived by several great-nieces and greatnephews; sisters-in-law, Vivian Costine, Albany, NY; Evelyn Boeckels, NJ; and close friends Vernon and Holly Schrom, Gallatin, NY.

In addition to her brother, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Thomas J. Moore, Jr., Pine Plains, NY; nieces Martha Morrison Kilmer of Ashley Falls, MA; Teresa Jean Moore of Pine Plains, NY; and Bruce Pearston. She was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ernie and Gladys Hilpertshauser, NC; John and Lillian Pearston; John Boeckels, NJ; Richard and BettyHaight Scanlon, FL; Frederick and Beatrice Mues, FL; Gordon Haight and Douglas Haight.
