Obituary for Mary M. Smith Anderson

Dunkirk – Mary M. Smith Anderson, of Millerton and Dunkirk, NY went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 20, 2017 at the age of 86.

Mary was born on July 4, 1930 in Newburgh, NY to the late Misner and Mary Smith. She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband Robert Anderson after 45 years of marriage. She is survived by her two children, Stephen Anderson and his wife Stephanie of San Antonio, TX and Molly Jenks and her husband Bob of Millerton; four grandchildren, Jenna and Riley Anderson and Emma and Kelsey Jenks.

A longtime resident of Durkirk, Mary was an active member of the First United Presbyterian Church. She served as church treasurer for 38 years, Sunday school superintendent and teacher and as a Deacon in addition to many other roles.

Mary loved spending time with her family, chatting with friends, laughing, cooking, gardening, playing cards and she always wore a smile. She was a loving and caring person, a devoted wife, mother and friend who always thought of others first.

Funeral services and burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia, NY in the spring. A private memorial gathering will be held in Millerton at a later date.
