Obituary for Kathleen Thompson Aloan

Millerton – Kathleen Thompson Aloan, 97, a fifty three year resident of Millerton, NY died peacefully at her home in the village with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Aloan was a secretary at the Millerton Bank for fifteen years prior to her retirement in 1980.

Born April 22, 1919 in Canada, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Carrie (Duncan) Thompson. She attended and graduated from Philadelphia High School in Philadelphia, NY. Following graduation Kathleen attended business school in Watertown, NY. On June 11, 1942 in Evans Mills, NY she married William G. Aloan. Mr. Aloan died September 24, 2007.

Kathleen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Greenwich, NY and was a long standing member of the Millerton Methodist Church. She enjoyed walking, word search puzzles, reading and listening to the sounds of the Big Band Era music on television. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and her many friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include her two daughters and son in laws, Karen and Jim Petteys of Roy, Utah and Brenda and Alan DeWitt of Millerton; her son and daughter in law, Stephen and Joy Aloan of Grove Town, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Brian Petteys, Carrie Needham, Eric Watulak, Erin Grogan, Nicole DeWitt, Marc Aloan, Lacey DeWitt and Jesse Petteys; ten great grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved brother Dwayne Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 10:30 to 11am at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home. Pastor Gregory Higgins will officiate. Burial will follow at Irondale Cemetery in Millerton.
