Obituary for Helen O. McGhee

Helen O.  McGhee
Helen O. McGhee, 98, a lifelong Millerton resident died peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, CT. She previously resided with her loving daughter Patricia Boice in Millerton for many years. Mrs. McGhee worked as an assembler for General Electric in CT for 25 years retiring in 1975; she then provided private residential care for 15 years at her home in Millerton.
Born February 21, 1920 in Salisbury, CT, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Marchoki) Malarchuk. On September 25, 1937 she married Richard D. McGhee. Mr. McGhee died January 10, 1990. Helen was a longtime member of the Millerton Grange and she enjoyed cooking, crocheting, needle point and embroidery work. She had a great love for country music and was known for baking the best apples pies around. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and her many friends.
Helen is survived by her devoted daughter, Patricia Boice of Millerton, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by two children, Richard McGhee and Robert McGhee and six siblings; Mary Nowak, Margaret Gansowski, Thomas, Alex, Peter and Stephen Malarchuk.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 5-8pm at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10am at the funeral home. Pastor William Mayhew will officiate. Burial will follow in Irondale Cemetery, Millerton.
