Obituary for George Everett Clark Sr.

Millerton – George Everett Clark, Sr., 80, a forty three year resident of Millerton, NY, previously of Amenia, NY, died peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mr. Clark was a self-employed electrician and plumber for over forty years. He also worked as a general mechanic at Wassaic Development Center for ten years prior to his retirement in November of 2000.

Born September 25, 1935 in Glenham, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Eva (Faulkner) Clark. After graduating high school, Mr. Clark served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in November of 1962 following nine years of dedicated service. On January 1, 1956 he married Harriet B. Kauaihilo. Together they shared over sixty year of marriage. Mrs. Clark survives at home.

Mr. Clark was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia and was a life member and past commander of the Millerton American Legion Post # 178. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a longtime member of the Millerton Gun Club and The Rounder’s Gun Club. He also liked to play golf and bowl in his spare time. He will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, Mr. Clark is survived by five loving children; George, Jr. (Susan) Clark of Ancram, NY, Cynthia (Steve) Chriss of Sharon, CT, Tammy (Charley) Bender of Poughkeepsie, NY, Phillip (Debbie) Clark of Canaan, CT and Sharon (George) Tenbrock of Staatsburg, NY, twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and many friends. Mr. Clark was predeceased by his sister, Margaret (Midge) Morai of Wallkill, NY.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 1-3pm at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. A funeral service will take place at 3pm at the funeral home. Rev. Kent Wilson will officiate. Burial with full military honors will take place at Irondale Cemetery, Route 22, Millerton, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Millerton American Legion Post # 178, 155 Route 44, Millerton, NY 12546 or Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, 40 Leedsville Road, Amenia, NY 12501.
