Obituary for Bessie M. Spaulding
Bessie M. Spaulding, 89, a thirty-five year resident of Millerton, NY formerly of Sharon, CT died peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Spaulding had a long career with the State of New York where she worked as a therapy aide at the Wassaic Developmental Center for over twenty-seven years prior to her retirement in 1987.
Born August 19, 1928 in Altona, NY she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Clark) Rabideau. Following high school she attended Dutchess Community College where she studied nursing. On January 9, 1961 in Ludlow, VT she married Hugh Spaulding. Mr. Spaulding died in 1997.
Bessie was a member of the Local CSEA and was a longtime member of the North East Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends.
Bessie is survived by her beloved daughter, Deborah Haviland of Millerton; her loving grandsons, David Stoddard of Springfield, MA and Eric Oakes of Maybrook, NY; three great grandchildren, Hunter Stoddard of Ohio, Rosael Melinda Oakes and Nolan William Oakes of Maybrook and several nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 13, 2018 at 10am at the North East Baptist Church, 1 Maple Ave. Millerton, NY. Rev. Henry Prause will officiate. Burial will follow at Irondale Cemetery in Millerton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Millerton Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 733, Millerton, NY 12546.
