Obituary for Alfonso Peter Scutieri

Millerton – Alfonso Peter Scutieri, Jr., 86, a forty two year resident of Millerton, NY formerly of Pelham, NY died peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, CT with his loving family at his side. Mr. Scutieri worked for Shop Rite Grocery Stores as a Store Manager in Hyde Park, NY a career that spanned over fifty years. He retired in 1997.

Born January 6, 1931 in Mount Vernon, NY he was the son of the late Alfonso Peter and Millie (Petrillo) Scutieri, Sr. Mr. Scutieri attended Our Lady of Victory School in Mount Vernon and went on to serve our country in the United States Marine Corps. from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1960. On July 26, 1958 in Mount Vernon he married Beverly M. Cole. Together for nearly 60 years, Mrs. Scutieri survives at home.

Al was an avid bowler at Washington Lanes in Mabbetsville for many years, he also enjoyed deer hunting, playing golf and caring for his yard. He liked watching the New York Yankees, football and golf on television in his spare time, but the thing that brought him the most enjoyment was spending time with his loving family and his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved wife, Al is survived by two sons, John Scutieri and his wife Sheila of Millerton and Michael Scutieri and his wife Beth of Pittsfield, MA; his brother, Joseph Scutieri and his wife Margaret of Millerton, six grandchildren, Anthony (Cierra), Hanna, Jerilyn, Megan, Patrick and Haley; two great grandchildren, Wade and Colin; a God daughter and special niece, Marrianne (Paul) Taylor of Gilbertsville, PA and several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 11am-1pm at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. Funeral services will take place at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Irondale Cemetery, Route 22, Millerton, NY.
