Obituary for Shirley L. Mower

Stanfordville – Shirley L. Mower, 96, a four year resident of Stanfordville, NY died peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mrs. Mower enjoyed spending time with her daughter Diane in Stanfordville and her daughter Dawn in Hewitt, Texas. She spent the winter months at her home in Mount Dora, Florida.

Born May 6, 1927 in Leeds, NY, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Annabelle (Owen) Lampman. She was a 1944 graduate of Cairo Central School. She married Percy M. Mower, Jr. Mr. Mower died on November 15, 1989. Shirley worked as a waitress at Frank’s Pizzeria in Acra, NY for over 25 years and was known and loved by all her patrons. She was a longtime member of the Cairo Parish United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Shirley loved gardening and being outdoors. She enjoyed biking, solving crossword puzzles and putting jig-saw puzzles together with her grandchildren. She spent many dedicated hours at the AMVETS Post No. 1992 in Mount Dora, volunteering her time and socializing with US Veterans and their families. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends in New York and Florida.

Shirley is survived by three children, Diane Hengen and her husband Craig of Stanfordville, NY, Dawn Sirizzotti and her husband Michael of Hewitt, TX and Dennis Mower of Jefferson Heights, NY; six grandchildren, Owen Mower, Jenn Hengen, Mickey Sirizzotti, Lynette Mower, Tamara Ferrera and Corinna Burton; nine great grandchildren; her niece, Janet Lampman-Selke of Troy, NY and her nephew, Andy Lampman and his wife Marilyn of Coxsackie, NY. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Merrill Lampman.

There are no calling hours. Burial will take place in the family plot at Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, NY at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the AMVETS Post No. 1992, 32201 AMVETS Way, Mount Dora, FL 32757. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott D.
