Obituary for Roger Alan Miller

Millerton – Roger Alan Miller, 76, of Vancouver, WA and Donna Gail Miller-Kaplan, 73, of Millbrook, NY both formerly of Millerton, NY were laid to rest on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in the Miller family plot in Millerton.

Chief Warrant Officer Miller served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1974. During the Vietnam War he received two Purple Hearts for wounds received in action and maltreatment in captivity (P.O.W.). He also was awarded The Silver Star for gallantry in action and The Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces, one in 1970 and 1973 respectively. CWO Miller also received The Air Metal for heroism while participating in aerial flight. He is credited with saving numerous lives in battle. He was a true patriot and a valiant warrior.

Ms. Kaplan was a lifelong area resident and worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Friedman in Red Oaks Mills, NY for many years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her beloved family and many friends.

Graveside services took place at 9:30am. Pastor William Mayhew officiated. Full Military Honors were conducted by the New York State Military Forces Honor Guard, Bronx, NY and our nations colors were represented and guarded by the Millerton Legion Post 178 of Millerton.
