Dover Plains – James Edward Carter, Jr., 53, a lifelong area resident died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at his home in Dover Plains. Mr. Carter worked as a chef throughout his life most recently at Millbrook Preparatory School in Millbrook, NY.

Born May 12, 1966 in Poughkeepsie, NY he was the son of the late James E. Carter, Sr. and Kathleen C. Boland. He was a graduate of Dover High School class of 1984 and attended Pace University in Pleasantville, NY. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all.

Mr. Carter is survived by his son, Markus James Carter of Gouverneur, NY two sisters; Tamara Carter of Pittsfield, MA and Angela Swistak of Cheshire, MA his companion, Lynette Nolletti of Dover Plains, his aunt and uncle Carol and Tom Flynn of Pleasant Valley, NY, his aunt Kathleen Wichowsky and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There are no calling hours. Cremation will take place a Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
