Obituary for Edward Joseph Powell

Staatsburg – Edward Joseph Powell, 56, most recently of Staatsburg, NY and formerly Florida, died peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY following a three year battle with pancreatic cancer. Eddie was a self-employed professional carpenter who owned and operated EJP Home Improvements and specialized in new construction, renovations and handyman services.

Born December 12, 1963 in Brookhaven, Long Island, NY he was the son of the late Raymond Alexander and Magdalen Marth (Riedel) Powell. He was a graduate of Carmel High School in Carmel, NY. In 1987 in St. Charles Borromeo Church, Dover Plains, NY he married Tina Marie Memoli. Their marriage ended in 1993 and they remained friendly and stayed in contact throughout the coming years. Eddie was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and modifier. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide in his spare time and also enjoyed auto body restoration and spending time with his loving family and dear friends. Eddie was also an active sponsor at Alcoholics Anonymous in Florida and in New York. He will be deeply missed by his beloved daughters and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. May he forever be held in God’s care while riding his Harley in Heaven.

Eddie is survived by two daughters, Jessica Powell and her boyfriend, Nathaniel Martin of Poughkeepsie, NY and Keri Powell and her boyfriend, Henry Masten of Staatsburg, NY; two granddaughters, Delila Martin and Amelia Powell; a brother, Ricky Powell of Florida; a niece, Joanie Newman-Mark and her daughters, Jordan and Ava; his former wife, Tina Marie Powell; his best friend, Susie Gayz and his buddy and faithful companion, “Boogie”, his beloved dog.
