Obituary for David Edward Payne "Dave" Herring
Millerton – David Edward Payne Herring, 68, a longtime area resident died Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Herring worked for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services as a cook prior to his retirement in September of 2013.
Born August 28, 1952 in Bronxville, NY he was the son of the late Wendell and Vennie (Walker) Payne Herring. He was a graduate of Tuckahoe High School and attended SUNY New Paltz where he majored in music. He married Judith Lawrence who survives in South Carolina. Mr. Herring was a longtime member of the North East Baptist Church in Millerton and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Other survivors include his three daughters, Davina, Allegra and Marah, his companion and caregiver Joanie Moore and her children, Christina Moore and Jasmine Perez and her husband Jose; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11am at North East Baptist Church, Corner of Main Street and Maple Ave. Millerton, NY. Pastor Totten will officiate. Burial will follow at Irondale Cemetery, Millerton, NY.
