Obituary for Charlotte May Dario (Belter)

CHARLOTTE BELTER DARIO of Millerton, New York passed away peacefully on September 29, 2021 surrounded by friends and family, after a short illness.

Charlotte was born October 6, 1930 to Lawrence and Cora Belter of Lime Rock, Connecticut. She leaves behind her husband, Joseph Dario, the love of her life for fifty years. She is survived by her brother, John Belter and his wife, Mary, both of Lime Rock, Connecticut, two nephews, Daryl Belter of Sarasota Florida and Scott Belter of Falls Village, Connecticut, a grandniece, Roxanne Belter, a grandnephew, Cameron Belter and a cousin, Helen Hill of East Hampton, Connecticut.

Charlotte graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1949 and moved to New York City, where she studied art. She remained in New York and started her career working for Paramount Studios, thereafter taking a position at Norcross Card Company as a designer. She loved calligraphy, which passion became a large part of her career focus, and continued on after her retirement at the age of seventy-five. Charlotte and her husband, Joe, bought a retirement home in Millerton, New York, where she lived until her passing.

Graveside services and burial took place on Saturday, October 2, 2021at 11 am in the Belter family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cobble Road, Salisbury, CT, officiated by Deacon Stephen Beecher. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin of Tours Parish, Church of St. Mary, P.O. Box 897, Canaan, CT 06018-0897. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott D.
