Obituary for Aram Henri Schroeder

Aram Schroeder passed away on July 16, 2023, at the age of 62 in his hometown of Millerton, New York. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years was nothing short of epic. Stubborn until the bitter end, Aram outlived his doctors’ predicted life expectancy by many years. Despite the pain, Aram never passed up the opportunity to crack a joke until his final breath.

Aram was born in Dover, Delaware to Harry and Julie Schroeder. He attended the Salisbury School, in Salisbury, Connecticut. He graduated from the Barlow School, in Amenia, New York and continued his education at the school of hard knocks. Aram was a passionate and gifted woodworking craftsman. He spent his adult years as a self-employed millworker and custom cabinet maker.

Aram loved many things: his dear friends (many of whom also left this world too soon); quiet beaches; surfcasting and deep sea fishing (fishing on all bodies of water to be honest); ice cream sandwiches and popsicles; good books (war history and historical fiction); public radio and loud music (if you can’t feel it in your bones, it’s not loud enough); summer barbecues; pasta, lots and lots of pasta; basking in the sun; the New York Giants; watching and playing ice hockey; fixing things (especially if it required the use of a glue gun); expletive-filled rounds of golf; beer, brown wine, and bourbon; playing the guitar; and living life to the fullest. Above all else, he loved his ladies: his wife Wendy, daughter Rachel, and granddaughter Amelia.

Aram is predeceased by his father, Harry Schroeder, and his beloved dog, Coco. Aram is survived by his wife of 35 years, Wendy Moody, his daughter Rachel (Kadeem) Rodgers, and granddaughter Amelia Rodgers. He is also survived by his mother Julie and his mother-in-law Eleanor Moody, his three sisters: Lisa (Mike) Van Tassell; Sara (Robert) Doar; and Lara Schroeder, his brother-in-law Ted (Cyndi) Moody, and his niece and nephews: Michael (Katie) Doar; Andrew (Kiersten) Doar; Julie Doar; Bobby Doar; and Tre Moody.

Aram wishes to spend eternity among the seas, so his ashes will be spread at his favorite beaches, from Cape Cod to the Outer Banks, at the family’s discretion. As Aram loathed all things formal, there are no formal services planned at this time. Those who wish to gather in memory of Aram are welcome to raise a glass with those they love wherever and whenever they can.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. To send an online condolence to the family or to plant a tree in Aram’s memory, please visit www.conklinfuneralhome.com
